LEARNING TOGETHER, IN GOD'S LOVE.
Recognising its historic foundation, the school will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with the Church at parish and diocesan level.
The school aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers to all its pupils.
VISION AND VALUES
Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our school vision which is;
We have twelve core values which are embedded in the life and work of the school and its community. They are; Thankfulness, Trust, Perseverance, Justice, Service, Truthfulness, Generosity, Compassion, Courage, Forgiveness, Friendship, and Respect. We focus on one value each half term over a two-year cycle.
These values are clear in everything we do and how we operate. They reflect the core ideology of our school and do not change over time. The person you are is an expression of these values. They determine how you think and what you do. They shape your purpose and determine your vision. They establish your character and are hugely important to who you are. Values are what we live, breathe and these are reflected in our day-to-day activities.
These are our values for 2017 to 2018.
Generosity is all about what we can give to others. We can give our money and our time to charity, be a friend to someone who is sick or lonely or do volunteer work. Jesus was generous to everyone with his time and gifts of healing.
“Remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, it is more blessed to give than to receive”. Acts 20:35
“God loves a cheerful giver.” Corinthians 9.7
Compassion is stronger than feeling sorry for someone. It has more to do with putting yourself in someone else’s shoes and experiencing what they experience. Jesus’ healing work was always prompted by compassion for people’s suffering.
“Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience”. Colossians 3.12:
"Treat others as you want them to treat you”. Matthew 7.12: ‘The story of the Good Samaritan’ Luke 10.25-37
Courage is basic to our Christian faith it is the belief that God is present in every situation, and this has led to great acts of courage. Courage takes many forms: it may mean facing up to opposition or personal danger; it may mean overcoming your personal fears or phobias; it could mean making a stand for the right
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Deuteronomy 31.6
"For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid but gives us power, love and self-discipline." Timothy 1. 7
Forgiveness is more than just saying sorry. We can forgive because we are forgiven. “Be compassionate and kind to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ in God forgave you.”
"But if we confess our sins to God, he can always be trusted to forgive us and take our sins away." John 1.9
"If you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you." Mark 11.25
Friendship is the special relationship we have with certain people – a friend loves and cares for you at all times. The Bible tell us that Jesus was a friend to all no matter who they were.
‘I no longer call you servants’, said Jesus.......... ‘Instead I have called you friends.’ John 15.15
"A friend loves at all times." Proverbs 17:17
Respect is valuing every person equally regardless of status, gender or wealth. Jesus taught us this value through his actions in the Bible.
At our school we explore the Christian teaching that every child and adult is made in God's image and is uniquely precious and worthy of respect and kindness.
"Let the children come to me." Mark 10.14
"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father's care." Matthew 10.29
