At Bishop Martin CE Primary School Religious Education has an important and central place within our curriculum.
Our school values and Collective Worship support the beliefs and practices of the church. We teach an hour of RE a week and in the teaching of RE, we aim for children to learn about religions AND learn from religions.
We are an inclusive school and teach about tolerance, celebrating differences and welcoming all, in a community of respect, nuture and support. We give our children opportunities to discuss topics, reflect on the impact religion has on others in their community, the wider world and themselves.
We use our strong links with St Peter's Church and visits to other places of worship to enrich our children's religious education.
The Rector Kip Crooks, St Peters, is a school governor and an almost daily visitor to school.
Children regularly engage in extra special RE events. Kip and Andy Radford, Curate at St Peters, help lead activities during our Ethos afternoons. Half termly Ethos afternoons, visits to the Cathedral and visits to other places of worship take place over the course of the year. We also attend St Peters church weekly as well as celebrating Christian festivals with special services.
