Welcome to Year 2!
This year, year 2 will be taught by Miss Hodson and their teaching assistant will be Mrs Brayford. We will be covering a wide range of topics throughout the year as well as developing our skills in English, maths and science.
This year we will be focussing on developing our reading skills so we will aim to read 5 out of 7 nights a week. We would love all children to receive a gold reading certificate by the end of this year.
Homework will be given out every Friday and will be due back the following Tuesday. All homework will be set to consolidate what the children have been learning in class that week.
Spelling lists will be given out every other Friday. The spelling rules will be taught in school and all children can continue to practise these at home. Spelling tests will take place two weeks after the lists have been sent home to allow the children enough time to learn and be confident with the word lists and spelling rules that accompany them.
PE lessons will take place every Tuesday, please ensure your child has their PE kit with them that day.
I am looking forward to a fun-filled year!
Crosby Hall 21.2.18 - 23.2.18
Take a look at our pictures from our residential at CHET. We carried out lots of different activities, from adventure courses and orienteering to building dens and creating photograms. We had lots of fun and learnt many new skills!
Ethos Afternoon 5.12.17
In this half terms ethos afternoon we focussed on our Christian value, compassion. The children enjoyed listening to the stories of the Good Samaritan, how to fill my bucket and Ruth and Naomi. We thought about how we can show compassion in our everyday lives.
On Thursday 30th November, year 2 visited Bishop Chapel and took part in a Christmas journey. We explored different aspects of the Christmas story through separate drama workshops.
Year 2 and so much fun visiting the story barn on 23.11.17.
To start our day we got to explore Calderstone's Park. We used all our 5 senses to explore different trees and plants and listened to different stories as we made our way around.
In the afternoon we got to get involved in arts and crafts activities, after listening to the story of 'The Ugly Duckling'.
Then we got to had lots of fun imagining we were in all kinds of different stories!
We can't wait to visit again!
