This year, we will have a lot of fun, engaging and interesting experiences planned for you. We have a lot of new things to learn and we will have to work really hard throughout the year.
Reading is a very important aspect of learning not just in Year 2, but right throughout your children's school journey. We actively encourage you to read every night with your child. All children need to bring their reading book and reading record into school every day.
We follow the Read to Write scheme for English as this supports children's reading development and continues to develop their comprehension skills. There is also a focus on key writing skills such as proof reading, editing and writing creatively. The book that we will be exploring this half term is ‘A River’ by Marc Martin and we will be writing a circular narrative.
This half term we have some exciting topics to cover in our foundation lessons such as Kings Queens and Leaders in history, Drawing in art and plants in science.
Year 2 have PE every Tuesday, this half term in PE we will be doing gymnastics. Please remember that children must come to school in their PE kits on Tuesdays.
You will be able to find this half-term's knowledge organisers on this page with the rest of our learning each half term.
