At Bishop Martin, we help every child discover their strengths, develop their character and grow into a confident, caring individual. Rooted in our Christian vision, “With God all things are possible”, our Be INSPIRED Personal Development and Wellbeing Strategy brings together learning, relationships and experiences that help children flourish.

Our INSPIRE qualities describe the children we nurture:
Individual – celebrating their own strengths and talents and valuing what makes others unique.
Nurture – showing kindness and care towards others and exploring the world with curiosity.
Skills – building the knowledge and practical skills they need for each stage of their education and life.
Purposeful – learning from meaningful experiences, discovering interests and developing ambitions.
Independent – growing in confidence, taking responsibility and persevering through challenges.
Responsive – listening thoughtfully, recognising feelings and learning how to care for their own wellbeing and respond to others.
Embrace – welcoming new opportunities, celebrating different cultures and approaching the world with an open mind.
These qualities grow with our children throughout their time at school. In the early years, we build foundations through play, friendships, sharing and supported choices. As children move through school, they practise these qualities through classroom learning, creative activities, outdoor challenges, visits and opportunities to serve others. Older pupils take on greater responsibility through pupil leadership, community projects and courageous advocacy, learning how their voice and actions can make a difference.
Adults model, teach and celebrate these qualities every day. We recognise that each child’s journey is different, providing the encouragement and support they need to participate, experience success and become increasingly independent.
