Attendance Information

At Bishop Martin we consider maintaining high attendance very important, attendance is directly linked to raising achievement and skills for life and work.  We consistently work towards a whole school attendance goal of above 98%.  As a school we will do all we can to ensure maximum attendance for all our pupils ensuring every pupil has access to full-time education.  We are pleased to have been awarded the GOLD Liverpool Attendance Quality Mark. This recognises the school’s commitment to promoting good attendance, recognising that this is central to raising children’s attainment.

School Times and Punctuality

Classroom Doors open:    8:45am

Registration:                       8:55am

Please ensure that your child arrives at school by 8:55am at the latest each morning.  It is important that children come to school on time every day so that they don't miss out on learning.  Continual punctuality is important because if, for example, a child arrives 15 minutes late at school each day, they lose almost 2 weeks of education a year!

Holidays during term time

Term time leave for holidays will not be authorised at our school. We ask that all families take their holidays during the school holiday periods. Parents who choose to take their child out of school without written permission from the school may be issued with a fixed penalty notice from the city council and will need to attend a meeting with the Attendance Team.

Only in exceptional circumstances may a Headteacher grant permission for leave.

What should I do if I am worried about my child's school attendance?

If you do have any concerns over your child's attendance or punctuality, for whatever reason, please contact the school to discuss your concerns so we can help support you.

Liverpool Attendance Charter

Bishop Martin has signed up to the Liverpool Attendance Charter. Please read the Charter below.

EYFS Attendance & Punctuality Handbook

This is a copy of the EYFS handbook that we have introduced for this years Early Foundation Stage class.

What should I do if I am worried about my child's school attendance?

If children are genuinely unwell and cannot attend school then parents/carers are required to ring school and speak to the Attendance Admin to discuss the reason for absence before 8.45am on the first day of illness.

Please see a link here from the NHS if your child is unwell and you are unsure whether they can attend school.
